| A perfect start to the new GP season for FILLIPPE CHONG (WANTAGE KINGS) who rode to a 15 point maximum in the regular heats before winning both his Semi and the Grand Final to record a 21 point score. Behind him in the Grand Final was wildcard JACK HAGEN (TEESSIDE TRANSPORTERS) who only won one heat but was consistent throughout to impress on the highest stage. Defending World Champion GABRYS IRZYK (NEWMARKET RAIDERS) got off to a solid start with 16 points and although he had a patchy meeting BORIS DVOYNEV (WEDNESFIELD WANDERERS) can be content with his opening score of 10 points and reaching the Grand Final. |
| HANS E BERGESTOL (TEESSIDE TRANSPORTERS) and MACIEJ TERCJAK (HULL ANGELS) both reached the Semi Finals and recorded double figure returns with TIBOR NEMECEK (NEWMARKET RAIDERS) and LUKE TREADWELL (UNATTACHED) also making solid starts to the new campaign. |
| The next 5 riders all finished within 2 points of each other and will look for a good round next time out to set their season up strongly. At the bottom end a trio of riders struggled, particularly world number 2 STEEN ERIKSEN (LANARKSHIRE LIONS) who had bike problems throughout, pulling up twice, and failed to trouble the scorers so he will need to produce much better and quickly if he wants to challenge at the top end of the series again in 2018. |
